The Women’s Hospital at Saddleback Medical Center has been providing Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) services for nearly 30 years, and NICU services for over twenty years.
The 39 bed LDRP unit delivers nearly 3,000 babies a year, and of these, approximately 10 percent are high-risk births and high-risk multiples referred from throughout Orange County and the surrounding area. This high performing team offers:
* On-site Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) * Obstetrician, neonatologist and anesthesiologist are on-site 24 hours a day 7 days a week. * A high-risk obstetric team * Expertise at handling multiple births * Wide range of prenatal classes * Private labor, delivery and recovery suites * Low cesarean rates * Multilingual staff * Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC)
The 19 bed NICU cares for premature and medically fragile infants through a comprehensive team including, a full complement of board certified neonatologists, pediatric subspecialists, experienced nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers and pediatricians. The NICU provides a full range of specialized, family-centered services for premature and medically fragile newborns including: On-site 24/7 Neonatologists, Specialized Nurses and Respiratory Therapists, Lactation Support, Skin-to-Skin Care, Pediatric Physician Subspecialty Coverage, Perinatology and Anesthesiology Coverage, and Neonatal Case Management & Discharge Planning. The Director, Women’s and Children’s Services is responsible for providing operational and strategic direction for the LDRP and NICU departments. This position is responsible to direct, plan, and develop all aspects of unit operations in collaboration with medical staff leadership to achieve clinical and service objectives, fiscal performance targets, and strategic plan and service line initiatives of Saddleback Medical Center. The Director maintains oversight for staff performance and competence; performance improvement; staffing patterns; internal and external relationships for the campus; education and development of staff; and fiscal management of operational/capital budgets. The position is accountable to County, State, and Federal agencies as well as The Joint Commission for maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards
The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a Master’s degree. Demonstrated experience and competency in operations improvement, clinical program development, organizational development, and financial management. Knowledge of current leadership, management, and quality improvement principles. Ability to develop, engage, educate, and train a team of individuals with variable experience levels. Experience in direct implementation of new programs and services resulting in high quality of care for neonate, adolescent, and adult populations.
Current California RN license required. Five years of progressive management experience in an acute care hospital Labor and Delivery or NICU setting. Five years of bedside RN experience in Labor & Delivery or NICU required.
