The Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness Specialist abstracts, interprets and presents data for assigned database, registry, and quality improvement teams, with the objectives of assisting performance improvement and achieving excellence in health and clinical outcomes. The role will integrate project management and improvement methods to interpret analytic findings, communicate information to interdisciplinary teams and support clinical performance improvement work. Additional functions include building complex data sets and utilization of those data to inform clinical and operational decision-making based on unnecessary variation, high utilization and patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates queries, reports, and interprets data to meet federal, state and accrediting regulations and in support of the clinical effectiveness program.
Assess appropriate inclusion/exclusion of data based on defined data dictionary; assist in evaluation of data dictionaries and utilize data specification and code to validate information being placed in new applications related to quality.
Coordinates the planning, defining, and testing of new measures, development and documentation of data or automation collection processes, validate data accuracy, and improvement of data collections.
Integrates internal and external benchmark data.
Demonstrates ability to manage databases with responsibility for analyzing data and generating summary reports with minimal supervision
Designs and develops dashboards and other innovative data visualization using business intelligence tools.
Establish a systematic, and/or clinical service line approach to all aspects of the project/program to include assessment and readiness, planning, training, implementation, coaching and sustainment.
Works collaboratively with quality & performance improvement teams to develop measures for monitoring and reporting clinical outcomes and process improvement.
Works in collaboration with Clinical Informatics and/or clinical staff as appropriate, to identify workflows that support clinical documentation improvement and facilitates accurate documentation in the medical record.
Supports performance-based incentive tracking for providers
RN required, BSN or bachelor's degree in healthcare/related business field preferred
At least five (5) years of healthcare experience?with at least two (2) years of experience in Patient Safety, Quality or Performance Improvement
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
Knowledge of or experience in the following:? computers, data abstraction and entry, outcome analysis, utilization management, clinical experiences in patient care processes, medical records, Performance Improvement, team facilitation and education (patient/staff) and physiology and disease processes.
