Position Summary The inventory technician maintains physical and electronic inventory, creates accurate and timely reports on drug and supply purchases, reconciles invoices and coordinates drug recall process. The inventory Technician assures DME equipment is maintained, in working order, and ensures all records are current. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job - Plans, directs, controls, coordinates and provides for the receiving of pharmaceuticals and related supplies from wholesalers, manufacturers, suppliers, or inter-hospital or pharmacy borrowing. Expedites and follows-up on orders. Maintains back order information and obtains substitutes and obtains approval before item is ordered and made available for use. Monitors the par levels of all inventoried items.
- Manages the excess and obsolete items in stock and takes the necessary steps to update the levels.
- Updates drug price information to maintain accurate computer database costs, reconciles invoices, maintains accurate inventory records, and organizes inventory process.
- Identifies, sequesters, and returns recalled medications or supplies. Ensures all medications and supplies are restocked promptly and accurately, as well as all expired product is removed as per policy.
- Understands regulatory requirements of 340b drug purchasing program and ensures purchasing practices comply with 340b regulatory requirements.
- Complies with applicable DHS, BOP, and JC regulations/standards. Consistently applies infection control policies/procedures. Participates in department Quality Assurance-Process improvement activities. Maintains position-specific competencies.
- Prepares for the annual physical inventory.
- Trains and evaluates technicians ordering procedures and practices.
- Tracks and ensures that all pump recertification’s are completed on time. Ensures pumps are properly cleaned and in working order.
- Communicates with customers with courtesy and respect, utilizing information they obtain to triage service in a manner which optimizes workflow.
- Works interactively with pharmacists, technicians, and staff members to coordinate work processes in accordance with all department needs and standards. Attends department education/training, in services, and staff meetings.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
- Participates in On-Call driver rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
