Responsible for the management of a section of Health Information Management Services.
Supervises employees in a section of HIMS to include the following functions: hires, schedules, transfers, promotes, disciplines, discharges, provides recognition/rewards, and handles grievances.
Oversees the daily operation of the HIM work section by assigning work, ensuring timely completion of work, and assuring that productivity and quality standards are being met.
Prepares weekly productivity and staff utilization reports.
Trains staff in the operation of computer systems/equipment and technical aspects of assigning, transcribing, processing, retrieving, and storing medical records, including legal requirements regarding confidentiality of medical records.
Analyzes production and workflow problems in both computer and manual systems. Develops or revises work procedures to increase efficiency and resolve problems.
Monitors budget and adjusts work processes/staffing to assure budget goals are met.
High school education with 2 years HIM experience and 2 years office experience.
Prefer RHIT degree
One to three years of medical office experience
One to three years of lead or supervisory experience
