This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. The Extended Care and Palliative Medicine Service (EC&PMS) Community Living Center (CLC) Medical Director provides clinical leadership through direction and coordination of medical care for CLC residents across VA Palo Alto Healthcare System (VAPAHCS), including CLCs at Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Livermore campuses. Major Duties: Clinical: Coordinates medical care and participates in the establishment of policies, procedures, and guidelines necessary for clinical care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team Oversees scheduling of physicians and advance practice providers in the CLCs Monitors performance of medical services provided by providers Oversees admissions to the CLCs Monitors CLC bed capacity and patient flow across CLC units Collaborates in the monitoring of quality and safety concerns within the CLCs Communicates relevant responsibilities, policies and procedures to providers Monitors psychotropic medication use in order to minimize misuse Is responsible for maintaining medical standards of care, as mandated by accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Long Term Care Institute (LTCI) Administrative: Represents CLCs on relevant facility committees Oversees hiring, credentialing, privileging, and peer review processes for physicians and nurse practitioners working in the CLCs Oversees strategic planning for the CLCs Integral participant with Quality Improvement activities of the CLCs Education: Participates in CLC-related educational programs including provision of in-services, as needed and appropriate Ensures that CLC providers are current with educational requirements for licensure and are current with VA educational requirements Research: as available and as time allows
