This position is located in Fort Worth, TX. The purpose of this position is to provide outpatient pharmacy services to veterans receiving care at the Fort Worth VA Clinic of the VA North Texas Health Care System. Pharmaceutical Care, Filling, and Dispensing:-Work collaboratively with the pharmacist and other team members to organize workload and establish optimal workflow in the area/duties assigned to complete work as accurately and efficiently as possible.-Prepare and label inpatient and outpatient medications for final review by a pharmacist in a timely manner.-Resolve missing doses by collaborating with nursing and other personnel and deliver medications timely to assist with good patient care.-Receive new stock and returned stock into inventory according to established policies, procedures and regulations regarding inventory record keeping.-Perform order entry in the pharmacy software package by entering the correct drug, strength, directions, quantities, comments, provider, date, and other pertinent information into the associated patient profile Clinical and Quality Assurance:-Provide basic drug and technical pharmacy information to physicians, nurses, and other associated healthcare professionals.-Act as liaison between external services, customers, and pharmacy operations, helping to solve technical pharmacy problems, provide additional information needed, and to improve communications.-Take charge of maintaining medication expiration dates of assigned sections, and overall organization, cleanliness, and drug storage alerts and restrictions, such as high risk, high alert stickers and separation of look alike, sound alike medications. Administrative Activities:-Obtain and maintain technical knowledge necessary to provide high quality inpatient and outpatient pharmacy technician services, and keep up-to-date on all job-related trainings and requirements.-Participate in the education and training of all new employees, trainees, and volunteers, and assist in their evaluation by providing feedback on their progress and performance.-Assist in the collection, tabulation, and preparation of administrative data and reports pertinent to pharmacy programs. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 5:30pm(40hrs/week), occasional and rotating weekends/holidays. Hours may be adjusted/extended to meet meet patient care demands.
