You Will Be Responsible For:
Responsible for the supervision of registry personal assigned to their reporting structure. This supervision includes reviewing quality assurance reports from the Quality Control Education Specialist, monitoring productivity, and providing performance feedback as outlined by the Cancer Registry Manager.
Responsible for timely, accurate and complete data reporting to the Florida Department of Public Health; National Cancer Data Base; American Cancer Society and the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Serve as a point of contact for CTR team to answer questions related to abstracting and coding activities. Foster open communication and team growth for the development and maintenance of a high performing team by facilitating small group huddles.
Participates in special projects or initiatives as assigned to improve the quality and outcomes for patients in the Cancer Institute.
Provides supervision / oversight of data completeness and quality of non-credentialed staff.
Adheres to hospital policy for protecting patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines
Demonstrates thorough understanding of medical terminology, most specifically terms related to anatomy, physiology, oncology, pathology, radiology and cancer treatment modalities.
Serves as content expert on interpreting components of a patient’s medical history, including but not limited to radiology and pathology reports, operative reports, history and physical reports, physician and nurses’ notes, discharge summaries, treatment protocol descriptions and physician’s letters
What Will You Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three (3) years of direct experience working as a Certified Tumor Registrar
Associates degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current and valid Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification
The Cancer Registry Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations and personnel within their reporting structure of the Central Florida Division Cancer Registry team. This involves training new employees on the registries as well as providing the existing employees with training when registry changes are made on a national level or internally. The Cancer Registry Supervisor serves as a content expert for abstracting activities ensuring that all reportable cancer cases are accurately captured and in accordance with national, state and accreditation requirements. This position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing monthly quality assurance reports to ensure standards are being met before sending it to the state and national registries for submission and to ensure quality benchmarks are met. The Cancer Registry Supervisor will partner with leadership to manage potential discrepancies in documentation or care variation.
