University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner or a Certified Physician Assistant to join our critical care cardiology practice at the University of Minnesota. The position will provide patients with expert patient care and coordination of services. They will assist the practice to improve patient satisfaction and enhance the quality of care provided to patients through increased access and coordinated services.
In This Role, You Will:
Provide inpatient care that will support the on-service physician on the cardiology critical care team while also advancing quality improvement efforts and the growth of the cardiology critical care and resuscitation programs. The services provided by the APPs will greatly improve continuity of care and clinic access for these patients during this time of rapid growth of clinical volume.
Core knowledge based competencies:
- Recognition of a seriously ill patient
- Expertise in differential diagnoses
- Autonomous initial resuscitation of a seriously ill patient
- Basic airway management
- Basic Mechanical Ventilator management
- Hemodynamic evaluation and treatment including vasopressors
Core action based competencies
- Code team support
- Urgent and emergent assessment, diagnosis and treatment skills
- Working collaboratively with a multi-professional team environment
Requested procedural competency:
- Central line insertions
- Arterial line insertions
- Basic Ventilator Management
Schedule:
- 1.0 FTE Opening
- Four 10 hour days
- Call every third weekend
We are Looking for a PA or NP Who Is:
- A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
- Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.
- Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP's).
- Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
What Could Set You Apart?
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or ability to complete training prior to start date
- Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) or ability to complete FCCS Course within 2 weeks of start date
