Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor-Clinical Cancer Center Lab.
In this role, the successful candidate has direct responsibility for the management and supervision of the Laboratory services. In this capacity, the supervisor is responsible for the organization of work, supervision of employees, staff development, expense control, quality assurance, process improvement, and problem solving in the delivery and services and related programs within the division. Performs all job duties with sensitivity to the age and development issues of the patient population(s) served.
Job Responsibilities:
Fosters the values and supports the objectives of the Cancer Center and the objectives of the Medical Center within the System and acts as a positive role model.
Performs other duties as assigned.
DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure compliance with the state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards, including quality assurance, safety and licensing requirements within the department, and with medical center policies, procedures and protocols.
MAJOR CHALLENGES: To be able to run as many tests as necessary within the context of Medical Center and approval of such procedures upon submission.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts with lab staff under supervision as well as the hospital personnel. Interaction with other department managers and center physicians.
Exercises oversight of department fiscal affairs, including accountability for budgets..
Supervises department employees, including responsibility for hiring, assignment of work, orientation, coaching, training, performance and competency evaluation, compensation, discipline and termination of employment. Promotes collaborative teamwork and open communication.
Collaborates with other managers in cross-functional process improvement and problem solving to ensure the effective coordination of services within and between departments.
Supervises the delivery of department services and a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure accurate and valid outcomes and continuous improvement of service quality for all customers. Ensures compliance with federal and State laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards, including safety and licensure requirements within the department and with Medical Center policies, procedures and protocols.
Evaluates and introduces new procedures and instruments for the diagnostic and/or therapeutic processes for patient and client population.
In collaboration with the Executive Director and host hospital staff, develops business and operational plans for the division and for specific programs and services within it.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: Job duties is not limited to but includes the following: 1. DOH and CAP Inspection readiness 2. Review and revise all laboratory policies and procedures as needed. 3. Staff training and competency 4. Lab Quality Assurance 5. Performance Improvement 6. Monitor Turnaround Time 7. Oversees and submit all CAP proficiency testing and linearity surveys. 8. Disciplinary actions when necessary 9. Payroll 10. Procurement and purchasing 11. Maintains staff HR files 12. Lab systems upgrades 13. Troubleshooting lab analyzers as needed
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory experience in technical and specialty field.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the trends and forces shaping the health care delivery system, the provision of care, and other emerging issues in healthcare management.Demonstrated flexibility and initiative of effectively lead change efforts to respond to environmental or organizational change.Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated fiscal management capabilities, including effective expense reduction, utilization management, and budget control.Proven personnel management strength including demonstrated ability to select, motivate, develop, evaluate performance, discipline and promote collaborative team efforts..
Required Licenses: Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: BS in Medical Technology or related field with at lease 6 years of lab experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred. NYS Lab Licenses Required ASCP Preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 - $127,869.56 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
