In this position, you will work as a leader in a patient focused, fast paced, and inspiring environment.
The Toxicology Department is looking for a Team Lead to work in our laboratory. The Team Lead is required to make independent decisions regarding the functions of the lab and work closely with the Supervisors to ensure compliance and efficiency in all areas. The Team Lead will need strong leadership and communication skills and be able to motivate, encourage, and mentor other employees within the department.
Assist with the oversight of the day‑to‑day laboratory operations; scheduling bench duties, and prioritizing work.
Perform pending lists, assist with workflow and specimen investigation as needed.
Act as point person in supervisor absence.
Assist with method development and new assay validations.
Assist with implementation of updated / new policies and procedures.
Initiate SOP updates.
Instrument analysis, advanced maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Train new employees.
Perform / delegate Quality Assurance checks and QC Management.
Monitor controls / calibration for error detection within batch along with trends within QC sets, take appropriate corrective action as needed.
Responsible for providing monthly reports and evaluating QC trends that come out of Ascent.
6 Month Instrument Comparisons.
QC and Calibration levels are maintained and adequate.
Perform special projects as assigned by supervisor / manager including, but not limited to:
Track statistics (ie. staffing metrics).
Keep lab audit ready (performs random audits).
Assist with ordering, counting, and maintaining of supplies within the Clinical Toxicology Laboratory.
Assist with lab communications (ie. bench updates, meetings).
Assist with competency assessments (7 years of experience required).
Act as designated New York supervisor as needed (7 years of experience required).
Perform new hire on boarding and safety tours.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university in chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
5 years of pertinent Laboratory experience, Toxicology preferred.
Demonstrates strong performance in current position.
Experience with instrumentation and/or extraction techniques.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
Excellent research and problem resolution skills.
Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
