The role you’ll contribute:
The role you’ll contribute:
Performs technical and research activities in a laboratory environment.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
•Leads receiving, processing, and labeling activities for laboratory specimens
•Supports leadership with daily workflow and problem resolution
•Documents observations/measurements and reports results
•Arranges specimens and controls for testing
•Leads cleaning and disinfecting activities to maintain cleanly rooms and equipment.
•Assists with department orientation and trains laboratory support staff
•Assists with the receipt and inspection of materials and orders/stocks materials and equipment. Manages supply
inventories and ensures supplies are viable prior to use for patient collection
•Participates and assists in laboratory techniques and methods, as directed
•Performs moderately complex phlebotomy tasks and collects appropriate specimens from patients, while complying with regulatory agency standards
•Reviews documentation, including accession logs, equipment records, and checklists
•Registration of patients, interprets and orders physicians test requests
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
•High School Education or equivalent
PREFERRED:
•Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field, or combination of High School degree and related
experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
•Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Valid Drivers License
PREFERRED:
•Phlebotomy certification or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:
•Up-to-date knowledge of laboratory tests and laboratory ordering processes
•Ability to process laboratory specimens with appropriate use of hospital and laboratory information systems
•Ability to evaluate collected specimens for volume, collection containers, and related measures
•Ability to accession specimens, evaluate samples for proper submission, and document issues
•Ability to manage laboratory assistants and serve as a staff resource
•Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
•Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
